Cingular 8525 Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth Headset

The new Plantronics Voyager 855 headset offers a convertible design and immersive sound experience for calls as well as listening to music on Bluetooth enabled mobile phones with stereo A2DP. The lightest stereo headset available to date, the new Voyager 855 includes intelligent features that offer unparalleled audio clarity.

Tailored Wear for Mono or Stereo Sound

Customizable for either mono or stereo use, the Plantronics Voyager 855 features a detachable stereo cable so consumers can tailor the wearing style to their communication and entertainment preferences. With specially designed, form-fitting earbuds, the Voyager 855 fits snugly and securely to seal out unwanted background distractions.

The Voyager 855's sound-isolating earbuds and convertible cable offer crystal clear wireless stereo sound when listening to digital music, as well as complete binaural immersion in conversations. When attached, the stereo cable also enables wireless AVRCP remote control capabilities. Plantronics' stereo multipoint technology alerts users to incoming calls and allows easy switching between conversations and music.

Drop the second earbud or detach the cable and the headset serves as a high-quality mono Bluetooth device.

Slide-to-Talk, Boom-Extended Microphone

The Plantronics Voyager 855 Bluetooth headset features a sleek slide-to-talk boom to provide convenient call control and improved audio performance. Sliding the boom open instantly connects the caller. The extending boom also houses a voice tube to position the microphone closer to the mouth for directional voice reception, ensuring maximum voice clarity and intelligibility. When the boom slides back, the call ends and/or the user's music selection conveniently resumes play.

Plantronics AudioIQ® - Noise Reduction and Two-Way Call Clarity

The Voyager 855 features Plantronics' award-winning AudioIQ technology - an exclusive, adaptive digital signal processing (DSP) technology that automatically reduces background noise and intelligently adjusts audio levels to increase clarity on both ends of a conversation.

Plantronics' new Voyager 855 offers approximately seven hours talk time, six hours listening time and 160 hours stand-by time from a single battery charge. And at only 15 grams - the Voyager 855 is the lightest stereo Bluetooth headset available.

Note: Stereo Bluetooth capability only works with phones that support Bluetooth A2DP.

It's an in-ear headset, but you can also attach an ear hook if you're paranoid unable to handle the in-ear bit. Sound quality was about average in my tests - nothing to write home about either way. Talk time is rated at 7 hours, standby at 160. So far I've used it for two days - about an hour of talking and an hour-and-a-half of music and I've yet to see the LED give me the warning blink.

If you carry music, Voyager 855s are very handy

Pros: Mono use or pretty good stereo
Cons: Silver strips started wearing off in days
I have had my Voyager 855 Bluetooth earbuds for a couple of months now and I use them just about every day. Sometimes, I listen to two or three albums in the course of a day. Using my Sony MDR-V6 wired headphones as a ten out of ten the sound from these are maybe about a seven out of ten. To me, that is pretty good for earbuds that I can always have in my pocket. I use Pocket Player from Conduits on my Tilt to play music. You can save pre-amp and equalizer settings for all the different headphones you use and that really helps.

Oh yea, you can also take and make phone calls with these earbuds. People say I sound good and I can hear callers well. One thing I am told is that when you answer a call by pulling the mike boom out, it makes a loud and strange sound that only the caller hears. Never heard it myself but my wife does not like the sound.

I have dropped it a couple of times on hard floors and no harm was done. Perhaps it is so light that it doesnt hit hard.
